For reasons that will go un-written here, this artist occupies a very special place in my cardiovascular network of vessels and muscles. His music found me at a very complicated crossroads in my mid twenties (during my quarter life crisis as he would call it). And as I begin to knock on 30, I am reasonably functional in part due to several small shots of sanity taken from his repertoire of unconventional music. So, it was a surreal, overwhelming moment going to see him perform live on the 25th of October.
The video was taken on my mobile phone, and as such, he appears here as a blurry, distant figure strumming a guitar. The poor quality of the video aside – the experience of capturing Jay Brannan – and the effortless beauty of his work was nothing short of delicious. An absolutely delectable experience.
His music is available on itunes. For a link to his itunes page click here.
